Personal

Subject is male, mid-twenties, Caucasian. Speaks with Scottish accent. Few distinguishing features. Implicated in elaborate four year confidence trick at Edinburgh University where he scammed a degree in Chemical Engineering. Known to have both arms and legs. Natural habitat is the cinema, becomes confused and disoriented outside of it. Fronts like gansta. Fond of action movies from Hollywood and the far East. Not picky as long as things explode. Known to own anime movies. Described as 'pasty-faced' by GQ magazine, attributed to a lifetime videogame habit. Regularly mugs old people to feed said addiction. Beaten up thousands of people, but only in Capcom fighting games. Occasionally pretends to be cultured and enjoy art house movies. As long as something is weird he'll probably like it. Riki Takeuchii fixation. Likes to think he's clever. Exiled to Stafford. Could use a shave. Has done four interesting things. Watches, writes, eats, sleeps, repeats.

Review style

I tend to write long reviews. Generally far too long. I've been cutting back on the wordage of late, but if I feel a film deserves it and I feel I'm not babbling on I won't hesitate to write as much as I feel like on it. Hopefully if you feel the same way I did about the film you won't mind reading it. However, if all you want is a quick summary of the film to help make you mind up before heading to the multiplex you won't want to read 2000 words. That's why we introduced the summary box at the head of the review. I supply what I believe to be enough detail for you, our valued reader, to form an opinion based on my opinion. There's normally a similar or greater level of detail in there than you'd find in many newspapers, for example. In this way, I hope I'm catering for those that just want a quick overview of the film and for those that want a more in-depth study of it. I appreciate that reading long text is a little more difficult on-screen than it is on paper, but I think this is the best of both worlds.

I was toying with the idea of including a link to a more easily printable version of our reviews, or perhaps an Acrobat PDF file of it. It's been put on the back-burner while I try and come up with something vaguely useful for my own personal website, scottmorris.info, but why not email in if you've any opinion on this or anything else we should add to the site.
